Precise EMG and nerve conduction testing reveals exactly what’s causing your symptoms.

You’ve been dealing with numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness for weeks or months. Maybe your fingers go numb at night, or your leg feels weak when you walk. Previous doctors might have given you vague explanations or told you to “wait and see.”
Nerve and muscle testing changes that. Through electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies, we pinpoint exactly which nerves aren’t functioning properly and why your muscles aren’t responding normally.
This isn’t guesswork. These tests measure the electrical activity in your nerves and muscles, showing us precisely where the problem lies. Once we know what’s causing your symptoms, we can create a treatment plan that actually addresses the root issue instead of just masking the pain.
NY Spine Medicine has been serving patients throughout New Jersey with comprehensive neurological and spine care. We specialize in diagnosing complex nerve and muscle disorders that other providers often struggle to identify.
We’ve performed thousands of EMG and nerve conduction studies, giving us the experience to interpret even subtle abnormalities that less experienced providers might miss. Our patients come to us when they need answers, not more questions.
Located conveniently for New Milford residents, we accept most major insurance plans and provide same-day results so you’re not left waiting and wondering about your condition.
The nerve conduction study comes first. We place small electrodes on your skin and send mild electrical pulses to measure how fast and strong your nerve signals are. This shows us if your nerves are damaged and where the damage is located.
Next is the EMG test. A thin needle electrode is inserted into specific muscles to record their electrical activity. This sounds uncomfortable, but most patients find it much more tolerable than they expected. The test shows us whether your muscle weakness is caused by nerve damage or a muscle disorder.
Both tests usually take 30-60 minutes total. You’ll get your results immediately, along with a clear explanation of what we found and what it means for your treatment. No waiting days or weeks for answers.

Our diagnostic testing evaluates both sensory and motor nerve function throughout your body. We can identify conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy, sciatica, diabetic neuropathy, and radiculopathy from herniated discs.
The testing equipment we use meets the highest medical standards for accuracy and patient comfort. We test multiple nerve pathways to ensure we don’t miss any affected areas, and our interpretation includes correlation with your specific symptoms and medical history.
You’ll receive a detailed report explaining your results in plain language, plus specific recommendations for treatment. Whether that’s physical therapy, medication, injections, or other interventions, you’ll know exactly what your next steps should be.
