Advanced nerve and muscle testing reveals what’s actually causing your symptoms so you can move forward with the right treatment.

You’ve been dealing with pain, numbness, or weakness long enough. Maybe you’ve had tests that didn’t show anything conclusive. Maybe doctors have given you vague explanations that don’t match what you’re experiencing.
Nerve and muscle testing changes that. These diagnostic tests measure exactly how your nerves and muscles are functioning. They can pinpoint compressed nerves, muscle disorders, and neurological conditions that other tests miss.
When you know what’s actually wrong, treatment becomes focused instead of experimental. You stop wasting time on approaches that don’t address your specific condition. Your doctors can recommend targeted therapies, medications, or procedures that actually work for your diagnosis.
NY Spine Medicine has been providing comprehensive neuromuscular diagnostic services to El Portal and South Florida communities for years. Our specialists understand that accurate testing is the foundation of effective treatment.
Our team focuses specifically on nerve and muscle evaluation, which means we see these conditions every day. We know what to look for, how to interpret complex results, and how to explain findings in terms you can understand.
You’re not just getting a test. You’re getting an evaluation from specialists who understand exactly what your symptoms mean and what needs to happen next.
The testing process combines two main evaluations: electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCV). Both are performed during the same appointment and typically take 30-60 minutes total.
During the nerve conduction study, small electrodes are placed on your skin. Mild electrical pulses measure how quickly and effectively your nerves transmit signals. This part feels like small taps or mild static electricity.
The EMG portion uses a thin needle electrode to measure electrical activity in your muscles. You’ll be asked to relax certain muscles, then contract them slightly. The needle insertion feels similar to getting blood drawn.
Results are available immediately. Our specialist reviews findings with you right after testing, explaining what the measurements mean for your specific symptoms and what treatment options make sense based on your diagnosis.
Ready to get started?
Your nerve and muscle testing includes both EMG and nerve conduction studies in one comprehensive evaluation. The testing covers multiple nerve pathways and muscle groups to identify exactly where problems are occurring.
You receive detailed results interpretation from specialists who focus specifically on neuromuscular conditions. We explain findings in clear terms and provide written reports for your records and referring physicians.
The evaluation also includes discussion of how your test results connect to your symptoms and what treatment approaches are most appropriate for your specific diagnosis. Most insurance plans cover these diagnostic tests when medically necessary.
