Progressive Non-Surgical Back Pain Treatment
The core belief of our practice is that surgery should be a last resort for treatment of your back pain. NY Spine Medicine exhausts all possible medical options to help patients recover from their back pain as safely and as painlessly as possible. We see many patients with back pain every day. We understand your desire to live a life free of pain. It is our goal to help you fully recover.
At NY Spine Medicine, we offer numerous treatments that can help you avoid surgery. If you have been living with back pain, you owe it to yourself to seek an evaluation from us. We have successfully treated thousands of patients with back pain. Most of our patients are able to return to pre-injury activities totally alleviated from their back pain.
Each patient's case is unique. We will treat you as an individual. The first step in recovering from back pain is a thorough assessment and evaluation of your specific problem. We use advanced diagnostics to get to the root cause of your problem. Once we know exactly what is going on, we will prescribe a treatment plan that is specific to your needs.
Our most common non-surgical treatments involve one or a combination of the following:
The actual epidural steroid injection takes only a few minutes. Medication is injected with a very small needle under the guidance of a fluoroscope. This allows the most accurate placing of the anti-inflammatory fluid. The steroid reduces the inflammation and swelling of nerves in the area of the injection. This will reduce pain, tingling and numbness and other symptoms that may be caused by nerve inflammation, irritation or swelling.
The anti-inflammatory starts working in about 2-3 days and you can expect tremendous relief, as its effect can last from months to years.
You may resume your normal activities immediately following most procedures. You may drive yourself home, although some patients may feel comfortable allowing someone else to do so.
Avoiding surgery is a conscious decision that you need to discuss with a highly skilled physician. To avoid surgery, you may be entering a course of treatment that will take hard work on your part. We understand some people want to avoid surgery and interventional procedures at all costs. Our professionals will teach you exercises to help avoid back pain flareups. We can provide a concentrated program that accommodates busy New Yorkers' lives. If you are used to pushing yourself to the limits, as many of us do every day, this program may be well suited to you. Make no mistake about it — this program will involve dedication on your part. If you're active and used to "doing things for yourself," this program may be well suited for you.
