You’ve been dealing with unexplained numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness for weeks or months. Your symptoms are real, but you need answers before you can get better.
EMG testing gives you those answers. This diagnostic test measures the electrical activity in your muscles and nerves, revealing exactly where the problem is and what’s causing it. No more guessing. No more wondering if it’s serious.
When you know what you’re dealing with, your doctor can create a treatment plan that actually works. Whether it’s carpal tunnel syndrome, a pinched nerve, or a muscle disorder, accurate diagnosis is the first step toward feeling better.
NY Spine Medicine has been serving College Point and the surrounding Queens community with specialized spine and nerve care. We focus specifically on diagnosing and treating conditions that affect your spine, nerves, and muscles.
Our physicians are board-certified and have extensive training in electrodiagnostic medicine. We understand that getting an EMG test can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re already worried about your symptoms.
That’s why we take time to explain the process, answer your questions, and make sure you understand your results. You’re not just getting a test – you’re getting clarity about your health from doctors who specialize in exactly what you’re experiencing.
Your EMG test typically takes 30 to 60 minutes and happens right in our College Point office. The test has two parts: nerve conduction studies and electromyography.
During the nerve conduction study, small electrodes are placed on your skin. Mild electrical pulses test how well your nerves send signals. You’ll feel a brief tingling sensation, but it’s not painful.
For the electromyography portion, a thin needle electrode is inserted into specific muscles to measure electrical activity. Most patients describe it as similar to getting a vaccination – quick and manageable.
Throughout the test, we explain what we’re doing and what we’re finding. You’ll get your results the same day, along with a clear explanation of what they mean for your treatment options.
Ready to get started?
Your EMG testing includes both nerve conduction studies and electromyography to give a complete picture of your condition. The testing can diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy, radiculopathy, peripheral neuropathy, and various muscle disorders.
Most insurance plans cover EMG testing when it’s medically necessary, and our staff verifies your coverage before your appointment. You’ll receive detailed results that your referring physician needs to develop your treatment plan.
Our College Point location offers convenient scheduling, including same-day and next-day appointments when available. Our goal is getting you tested quickly so you can move forward with treatment instead of waiting weeks for answers about your symptoms.
